Rome, from the Kingdom to Byzantium.
We opened our gates on October 22, 2026 to put the story of Rome on the walls of the people who love it as much as we do.
Hi, I’m Johannes Andersen, and yes, I think about the Roman Empire several times a day.
They say every man thinks about the Roman Empire. I think about it a lot more than most. I’m on my third run through Mike Duncan’s The History of Rome, I listen to every Roman episode of The Rest Is History, and I will happily talk about the Crisis of the Third Century with anyone who stands still long enough.
When I went looking for Roman art for my own walls, I kept being let down. Most of it felt half-hearted, and the Roman map I bought looked muddy the moment I stepped close. Rome deserves better than that.
So I started Pax Romana Art. Every piece is developed in-house and checked against the history, from the founding of the city to the fall of Constantinople. Each one is printed to order, and if it doesn’t arrive perfect, I’ll reprint it or refund you.
We’re new, and I’d rather earn your trust than ask for it. If you spot a historical inaccuracy, have an idea for a piece, or have any other feedback, send it to me. I read every message, and if something is wrong, I’ll fix it as soon as I can.
On repeatThe History of Rome · The Rest Is History · Tom Holland’s Rubicon · Mary Beard’s SPQR · Philip Freeman’s Julius Caesar · and many more

The bedrock of the West.
We love Rome. Not a postcard version of it, but all of it: the Kingdom that, by tradition, was founded on the Palatine in 753 BC; the Republic, with its senate, its magistrates and its written law; the Empire that ran roads from Britain to the Euphrates; and the eastern half that carried the name of Rome for nearly a thousand more years, until Constantinople fell in 1453.
Rome is the bedrock of Western civilization. Roman law underlies the legal systems of much of Europe and of the many countries that inherited them. Some of Rome’s roads, bridges and domes are still in use. Latin lives on in Italian, French, Spanish, Portuguese and Romanian, and in a large share of the English language. And it was along Rome’s roads, under Rome’s peace, that Christianity spread, until it became the faith of the empire itself. Rome owed a great deal to Greece, a debt we mean to honor in a collection of its own, but it was Rome that carried that inheritance across a continent and handed it down to us.
That is what we set out to celebrate: the beauty, the brutality and the sheer invention of it. The triumphs and the disasters. The legion on a frozen frontier, the Forum at dawn, the emperors who built and the ones who nearly lost it all. Told as history, with the legends marked as legends.
Our name comes from the Pax Romana, the two centuries of peace that began with Augustus. The Romans marked peace by closing the doors of the Temple of Janus. By Augustus’ own account they had been shut only twice since the founding of the city before the senate closed them three times in his reign. We like to think of every piece we ship as a small window onto that world.
Pax Romana Art is a gallery of Rome for the walls of people who care where our civilization came from. A study, an office, a den, a hallway you walk past every morning: somewhere a piece of that story can keep you company.
Four things we won’t compromise on.

New, small and honest about it.
Our pieces are digital artworks, developed in-house and checked against the history before they go anywhere near a wall. We are a new business, so we don’t keep a warehouse full of prints: each piece is printed to order when you buy it, then framed and shipped from the USA. It takes a few days longer than pulling a print off a shelf, and nothing sits unsold.
- Fine art framed prints: 200 gsm smooth matte fine art paper, 12-color printing, a pine frame and shatterproof plexiglass, ready to hang
- Framed canvas: canvas in a wooden floating frame with a 12 mm gap around it, ready to hang
- Canvas: canvas stretched over FSC-certified wooden bars, hanging hardware included
- Posters: 250 gsm museum-quality matte paper on a magnetic wooden hanger
Shipping, damage, and who we are
Every piece is made to order — produced within 1–2 business days and delivered 2–5 business days after that, so plan on 3–7 business days door to door. Shipping is free across the US, with tracking on every parcel.
Email a photo to support@paxromanaart.com within 7 days of delivery and we send a free replacement or a full refund — no return label needed. Because each piece is custom-made, we cannot accept change-of-mind returns.
Pax Romana Art is a young business, opened on October 22, 2026 and operated by the company named in our Legal Notice, linked in the footer. Questions, sizing advice and order help all go to support@paxromanaart.com, and a real person replies within one business day.
No. Every piece is a digital artwork, developed in-house and printed to order on fine art paper or canvas. What you buy is a high-quality print, framed, on a wooden hanger or on canvas, not a one-off original.
Because we just opened. We would rather earn reviews than borrow them, so every review on this site comes from a real customer, collected by Judge.me after delivery.
